Aesthetics & Livability Committee
Aesthetics & Livability (A&L) works to uphold an attractive and inviting City Center for visitors and residents. Key projects include:
- Adopt-a-Planter (2010-present)
A program where the city places sidewalk planters in the public right of away and nearby businesses adopt them by watering the plants and keeping them clean.
- CityDesign Awards (2010-present)
An annual award recognizing excellent architectural and design enhancements that elevate the perceptions of the City Center. | Learn More
- Arts & Historic District Community Dialogue (2014-present)
A district enhancement and community engagement process to establish a proactive plan to cultivate our Arts & Historic District into a premier district in the Upper Midwest.
- Open Space & Tactical Urbanism Plan (2014-present)
A plan to activate public spaces through appropriate events and activities.
- Enhanced Wayfinding & Connectivity (2014-present)
An implementation plan to add vehicular and pedestrian wayfinding signage throughout the City Center and to identify new connectivity opportunities that enhance the flow of multi-modal movement.
- CityLife – Supporting Appropriate Housing Quality & Density (ongoing)
An initiative to support quality housing and appropriate urban densities, to include live/work spaces, in the City Center
- Greening Plan (2016)
A tool to empower business and property owners with information on how they can best improve the streetscape through plantings and greenscape enhancements.
- Lighting Plan (2017-present)
A guide for public and private property to utilize lighting for wayfinding and beautification.
- INFUSE: Artists on Main Street (2018-present)
This initiative explores the intersection of arts and culture, downtown revitalization, and historic preservation through creative placemaking projects lead by local artists. | Learn More
